HTC Employee Charity Softball Tournament donates funds to the Shepherd’s Table
Monday, October 5, 2009, Horry County, SC – The 2nd Employee Charity Softball Tournament hosted this year by HTC employees was a homerun once again for the Shepherd’s Table. On Saturday, September 12, more than 100 employees with 9 teams and an additional 15 plus employee volunteers enjoyed a day at Michael Morris Graham field in Aynor to benefit the Shepherd’s Table in Conway.
HTC Employees eagerly donated to play in the tournament and earnings received from concession stand sales all went to the Shepherd’s Table which serves an average of 85 people per evening. Dee Shearin, Executive Director for the Shepherd’s Table received a $2,000 check from HTC Employees at a reception held on Friday, September 25 at the Shepherd’s Table.

HTC Employees, Lisa Beverly, Joey Billings, Bradley Skipper and Carter Watts, presented the $2,000.00 check to Dee Shearin, Executive Director for the Shepherd’s Table at a reception on Friday, September 25.
“This donation was a complete surprise, and I was not expecting that amount of money,” said Dee. “HTC has been so good to the Shepherd’s Table. They have supported us with both softball tournaments and the food drive at Christmas. HTC employees are held in special regard for us because of these donations. I appreciate everything HTC has done and the donation will be put to good use. Our pantry was looking a little skim, and this donation will help us serve the community like we need to serve it. I do see a need where our numbers are growing daily. We have broken records three times in the past weeks with the amount of food that we are serving and the amount of people who have come in for serving. This is such a God-send for HTC to step up to bat for us and help us out.”
“The sole purpose of this event was to host a day of fun, excitement and fellowship with our fellow employees while helping those less fortunate in our community,” said Robin Ard, HTC Human Resources Manager and Chairperson of the Tournament Committee. “Our employees were excited about this event and even those who have never played softball before signed up to play for this worthy cause.”
The HTC Employee Charity Softball Tournament was held in honor of Bradley Skipper, HTC Construction Worker, who is currently suffering from Renal Disease.
