REEL Kids Ceremony on Channel 4
July 14, 2010
HTC Digital Cable announced today the airing of the 10th Annual HTC REEL Kids (Recognizing Extraordinary Examples of Leadership) Ceremony. The program will air every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8 p.m. beginning this weekend, July 16-18 through the end of August on HTC Channel 4.
Viewers will be able to watch forty-eight students, representing each Horry County school, receive their HTC REEL Kids awards. Each recipient has proven themselves through scholastic, athletic and community achievements in the face of obstacles or extenuating circumstances. The program will also feature special guest speakers, Patrick John and Patrick Henry Hughes. Patrick Henry was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder: arms that could not straighten, legs that would never be able to walk, and most devastating of all, permanent blindness. He had been born with no eyes. Despite circumstances that seem overwhelming, Patrick Henry has overcome these physical issues to excel as a musician and student. He even participates in the University of Louisville Marching Band with help from his father (Patrick John Hughes), who tirelessly maneuvers his wheelchair through the formations with the other 220+ members of the Cardinal Marching Band.
“HTC receives so many requests each year from parents and subscribers about the REEL Kids Ceremony,” said Nicole Hyman, HTC Senior Marketing Coordinator. “We want to make sure everyone is informed about the airing of this uplifting program that recognizes some of the most deserving students in Horry County Schools.”
