Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness of the skeletal muscles. Symptoms include but are not limited to double vision, difficulty speaking, chewing and swallowing, lack of facial expression, weakness of the neck and extremities and sometimes difficulty breathing due to weakness of the diaphragm muscle.
Myasthenia Gravis means “grave muscle” in Latin.
