Shannon Copes: Pee Dee Land Trust

The Horry County Museum and the AVX Foundation present a lecture by Shannon Copes on Saturday, October 13th, on the Pee Dee Land Trust.
This free program will highlight the work that the Land Trust has done in the Pee Dee Watershed, an area which covers nine counties. Copes will also speak about what the Pee Dee Land Trust does to promote its mission to conserve and promote an appreciation of the natural, agricultural and historical resources of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, and how Conservation Easements work to protect special places in our area.
Shannon Copes if the Director of Education and Outreach for Pee Dee Land Trust. She has been involved in Non-profit work her entire career serving as Community Liaison for Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments before spending 10 years as Executive Director of Greater Florence Habitat for Humanity. After taking several years off to spend more time with her children, Shannon has returned to the non-profit world with Pee Dee Land Trust. In her current role, she coordinates a series of “Edutainment” Experiences as well as all major fundraisers for the organization. She is responsible for communication activities and membership. Shannon has been heavily involved in the community serving on several boards and committees over the years. She is a member of St. John’s Church. Shannon, along with her husband Scott and their two teenage sons, Graham and Lucas, live in Florence and enjoy taking in the natural beauty of our area from kayaking the rivers to spending time on the beach.
