Virtual Broadway Shows to Air Free Online

Following COVID-19 (coronavirus) social distancing guidelines, theatres across the country are closed for the foreseeable future. Andrew Lloyd Webber, arguably one of the world’s most successful modern-day composers, announced he will air his Broadway shows for free online.

In a project titled, The Shows Must Go On, Universal is launching a new YouTube channel dedicated to stage-to-screen musicals. A new stage show will air every Friday and be available for 48 hours.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was the first show, airing April 3. On Good Friday, April 10, the YouTube channel will air Jesus Christ Superstar. The remaining schedule will be announced at a later date.

Each new show will air at 2 p.m. EST Friday afternoon. Explore the YouTube channel here.
