As a Conway native living on a seventh- generation family farm, Logan grew up surrounded by weathered plows, discarded tractor parts and other broken objects — an endless supply of things that might be forgotten, but are nonetheless timeless. That family narrative serves as the backbone of his work as an accomplished metalsmith, woodworker and assistant professor of 3-D art at Coastal Carolina University. His work reaches beyond the aesthetics of intricate metalworks and functional farm- inspired tools; rather, it digs into history, sifts through stories and exposes truths. Logan’s in-depth academic research contributes to a unique art form where heritage meets higher education and culture translates into something tangible. Although his work is exhibited nationally, it also has been on display at Myrtle Beach’s Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum and the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery at Coastal Carolina University. Why? Who? What did they have to say? oldering on Winter 2017 | www.htcinc.net 21 Images provided by Logan Woodle.
