Horry County Museum Program: The Formation of Chickamauga Towns

The Horry County Museum presents The Formation of Chickamauga Towns: A Study of Cherokee Gender, Kinship, and Resistance in the Revolutionary Era on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at 1 PM. It is in collaboration with Coastal Carolina University and the South Carolina 250th Commission.

The Speaker will be Jamie Myers. Myers is an historian of American Indians of the Southeastern United States. She received her B.A. in history from Truett-McConnell University, her M.A. from the University of North Georgia and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She is currently an associate professor of History at the University of North Carolina, Pembroke, where she teaches courses on American Indian history, the history of global Indigenous peoples and the colonial and early American history.

The topic is based on the recently published essay of the same title, edited by Craig Friend and Lori Glover.
