HTC Volunteers Make an Impact During United Way Day of Caring
Team Members Lend a Hand at Finklea Community Center to Support Local Students and Families
October 13, 2025, Conway, S.C. – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, recently had employees take part in the annual United Way Day of Caring, continuing the Cooperative’s long-standing tradition of service to the community. This year’s event brought volunteers together at three locations across Horry County – Carolina Forest Recreation Center, Grand Strand Miracle League and Finklea Community Center, with HTC proudly serving at Finklea.
HTC’s team spent the day making meaningful improvements around the Finklea Community Center, a hub that serves local students and families. Volunteers tackled a wide range of projects, including: refreshing flower beds; removing old fencing; expanding playground barriers; painting basketball rims and posts; assembling new swing sets; cleaning out storage rooms; and revitalizing both interior and exterior spaces of the facility.
“HTC is always honored to partner with United Way Horry County for this incredible event,” said Brent Barker, HTC Manager Plant Engineering. “Our employees take great pride in giving back to the communities where they live and work. Seeing the smiles and appreciation from those we serve is what makes it all worthwhile.”
United Way’s Day of Caring brings together volunteers from across the Grand Strand to strengthen communities through hands-on projects. For HTC, the event represents more than just a day of service, it reflects the Cooperative’s ongoing commitment to improving lives through connection, collaboration and care. The transformation did not go unnoticed by those who benefit from the center’s programs.
“Thank you,” said Etta Carter, Horry County School District. “HTC showed up for us in a big way. I am forever grateful. The improvements take us to a new level.”
