HTC’s Helping The Community Initiative Prepares Local Students for a Successful School Year

As families across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee prepare for the start of a new school year, HTC is helping students begin the year equipped for success. Through its Helping The Community initiative, the Cooperative donated hundreds of essential school supplies to organizations serving families in Marion County and Horry County, continuing its mission of making a meaningful difference.

 

During July, HTC delivered back-to-school supplies to the Marion Police Department and Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council (EOC). The organizations will distribute the supplies to local students and families, helping ensure children have the tools they need to walk into the classroom feeling prepared and confident on the first day of school.

 

To show appreciation for the Marion Police Department’s partnership and ongoing service to the community, HTC also provided lunch for officers and staff from Soups, Salads, & Sandwiches, a locally owned restaurant in downtown Marion. Supporting another local business while giving back to the community reflects the cooperative spirit that drives the Helping The Community initiative.

 

 

This year’s donation included a variety of classroom essentials that students use throughout the school year, including:

 

– 50 backpacks

– 300 glue sticks

– 312 packs of filler paper

– 296 composition books

– 160 packs of index cards

– 54 packs of crayons

– 50 wide-ruled spiral notebooks

– 50 college-ruled spiral notebooks

– 200 pocket folders

– 125 HTC pens and pencils

 

While these items may seem simple, they can make a meaningful difference for families preparing for the expenses that come with a new school year. By working alongside trusted community organizations, HTC helps ensure those supplies reach students who need them most.

 

 

Helping The Community is HTC’s year-round employee-driven initiative focused on supporting local nonprofits, schools, first responders, and community organizations through volunteerism, donations, appreciation and partnerships. Each month, the initiative focuses on opportunities to meet needs throughout the Cooperative’s service area while reinforcing HTC’s commitment to serving the people behind every connection.

 

These July efforts are especially meaningful as HTC continues expanding its advanced fiber network throughout the City of Marion. While construction crews are bringing faster, more reliable internet service to additional homes and businesses, HTC remains equally committed to investing in the people who make those communities thrive.

 

Whether it’s helping students prepare for a new school year, partnering with local organizations, or investing in the future through continued fiber expansion, HTC is proud to support the communities it has called home for generations.

 

As another school year begins, HTC hopes these donations help students focus less on having the right supplies and more on the opportunities that lie ahead.
