The FAST & The Curious

You’ve heard about them.  Admit it, you are curious, even if you aren’t comfortable with it.  Are you aware that half of your neighbors are doing it?  In fact, 45% of them are.  How do we know? There’s data.

A recent study of U.S. households by Parks & Associates shows that 45% view video from FAST services or have done so in the past 30 days.

That’s right! Almost half of the homes surveyed have realized that FREE TV sounds pretty good to them. In fact, FAST viewership has jumped 65% between the beginning of 2022 to the beginning of 2025.

Let’s pause here for a minute and make sure everyone is caught up. If you haven’t had the chance to read our blog series on streaming, it can be found here!

FAST platforms are FREE TV

Yes FREE.  They are the fastest growing segment of the streaming world as more people see the value of TV as it used to be.  FAST is an acronym for “Free Ad Supported Television”.  FREE. Yes, you need to watch the commercials, that’s how it is kept free.

So, what’s the big deal?  I’m glad you asked.  This week, we will focus on Tubi and their 90 million active monthly users.

Tubi

Owned by FOX, offers around 200 channels of live content plus plenty of on-demand content (a rotating mix of 20,000 titles).

  • Being owned by FOX, it features a lot of FOX content including the National feed of ‘LiveNow’ from FOX News.
  • Like sports? Tubi has a dedicated 24-hour NASCAR channel, a total of 27 total sports themed channels and showed the Superbowl live for free last year.
  • If Lifestyle programming is your thing, enjoy 4 cooking channels, and lifestyle networks ranging from gardening to Top Gear and travel and adventure.
  • There is a complete Kids section of the platform, able to be set with parental controls so you can allow the kids to watch without worry.

The Tubi app, along with all the programming, is free. There is an option to sign in with an email, but it is not necessary to watch.  If you do sign up with an email, they will send you weekly updates on featured and new content available, along with recommendations based on your viewing.

Welcome to the party!  Free TV is here.  And free is good.
