HTC Amplifies Commitment to Literacy During National Reading Month
Cooperative’s Initiatives Empower Youth and Foster Community Engagement
March 13, 2025, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, is celebrating National Reading Month by reinforcing its dedication to literacy and education through a series of impactful initiatives aimed at empowering youth and strengthening community bonds.
Throughout March, HTC members who enroll in AutoPay and Paperless Billing will be directly contributing to local literacy programs. For each enrollment or switch, HTC will make a monetary donation to support these vital initiatives, reflecting the Cooperative’s commitment to integrating technological convenience with community advancement.
In addition, HTC continues a steadfast focus on early childhood education, proudly sponsoring this year’s “Caring for Kindergartners” event in collaboration with the United Way of Horry County. This initiative reached 97 classrooms and more than 2,300 kindergarteners across Horry County. Each classroom received a copy of “Froggy Plays Soccer,” complete with HTC stickers, promoting a love for reading and reinforcing the importance of mentorship and teamwork among young students.
“Without HTC’s sponsorship, we simply could not have done it,” said Richard Williams, Jr., United Way of Horry County Director of Education. “We are so grateful for HTC’s commitment to education, literacy and community engagement.”
To further help in extending literacy advocacy, HTC is also partnering with the Marion Chamber of Commerce to ensure every third grader in the Marion County School System receives a copy of the book “Palmetto: Symbol of Courage,” for their personal library. This effort underscores HTC’s belief in the transformative power of reading and its role in building a foundation for lifelong learning.
The Cooperative is continually seeking opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their members and the broader community. Through these various initiatives, HTC continues to display commitment to its core value of community.
“HTC is proud to support literacy initiatives that strengthen our community,” said Sandy Hendrick, HTC Marketing Manager. “Through partnerships, donations and advocacy, we strive to provide resources that help youth of all ages develop essential reading skills.”
