HTC CEO Mike Hagg Receives Order Of The Palmetto From South Carolina Governor’s Office
Recognition Given To Hagg is the Highest Civilian Honor Presented to State Citizens
October 21, 2022, Conway, S.C. – HTC CEO Mike Hagg was recently recognized with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor awarded by the Governor in the state of South Carolina. Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette presented the honor, recognizing Hagg for his 28 years of service to HTC, his contributions to the state, as well as the telecommunications industry and his community service efforts.
“It is an honor to be able to bestow this award to Mr. Hagg, who has made such a mark in the community and the telecommunications industry, on behalf of Governor McMaster,” said Pamela Evette, South Carolina Lieutenant Governor. “Mike is the epitome of what makes South Carolina so special, as his goal has been to do more to make this community better.”
Hagg joined HTC in 1994 and was named HTC’s CEO in 2010. He has held many different roles throughout his career and has led the Cooperative through a tremendous growth phase. His leadership and vision were key to HTC being a leader in the state for improving broadband access for rural communities.
“Mike’s leadership will impact HTC and our region for years to come,” said Carlton Lewis, HTC Chief Operating Officer. “He has been more than just a colleague, he has been a mentor. His dedication to the Cooperative, and to our communities, has been truly inspiring to watch and learn from.”
Hagg was both delighted and humbled by the honor.
“I’m humbled, honored and blessed. I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by a lot of great people throughout my life and career, including my family, my coworkers and folks in the community,” said Hagg. “As long as we don’t lose sight of why we’re here, to make our community a better place to live and raise our families, then we’ll be alright.”
In addition to his service to HTC, Hagg has dedicated time to serving on several committees and boards throughout the community including: Coastal Carolina University Educational Foundation; Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Authority; Myrtle Beach Sunrise Rotary Club; Northeast Strategic Alliance (NESA); Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce; South Carolina Telecommunications Broadband Association; Rural Telecom Insurance Corporation; and Telcom Insurance Group.
