Employees Strengthen Bonds While Shaping Futures by Supporting Local Youth and Community Growth

October 4, 2024, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the HTC Co-Op Cup Golf Tournament October 28, 2023. Since its inception in 2003, the Co-Op Cup has not only strengthened relationships among employees and HTC business partners, but also emerged as a cornerstone event for supporting local charitable initiatives and investing in the future of the community.

By bringing together diverse groups and raising essential funds, the tournament allowed HTC to donate a total of $19,000. Of this donation, $1,000 was donated to the golf programs of high schools in Horry, Georgetown and Marion Counties, 14 schools in total. These contributions, which directly benefit the youth in area communities, reflect the Cooperative’s unwavering commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders, athletes and community members.

Additionally, the tournament raised $5,000 for First Tee, a nationally recognized youth development organization that empowers young people to navigate life’s challenges with strength of character, using the game of golf as an influential tool for personal growth. Through First Tee’s life skills curriculum, young athletes not only learn the rules of the game of golf, but also build confidence, resilience and leadership skills—qualities they can carry with them well beyond the golf course.

“First Tee is incredibly appreciative of the support HTC has given us,” said Wendy Flynn, First Tee Community Outreach & Events Manager. “The generous donation not only reflects a sense of community, but it helps assist with our fall school programs in Horry and Georgetown counties for ages 7 through 17. Being able to reach and impact youth throughout various age ranges, helps to build skill sets that are pertinent to all areas of life.”

As the Co-Op Cup looks toward its 21st year, the Cooperative remains steadfast in its dedication to this event, which has raised thousands of dollars over the past two decades to help local organizations and schools thrive. By fostering strong community partnerships, the tournament exemplifies the power of collaboration, generosity and shared purpose.
