Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology Student Hayes Calhoun Joins Students From Around the United States.

July 30, 2024, Conway, S.C. – In conjunction with the Foundation For Rural Service (FRS), HTC recently sponsored a Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. for a Horry County School (HCS) student.

Hayes Calhoun, a student at the Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology in Carolina Forest, was this year’s local participant in the FRS Youth Tour. Calhoun joined other high school students from around the country for a trip to Washington, D.C., June 3 through June 7, 2024. The Youth Tour gave him the chance to visit the nation’s capital, learn more about rural broadband and share his community’s story.

As a member of the NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, HTC supports the FRS to help invest in the next generation of leaders and citizens.

“HTC is honored to collaborate with FRS to create opportunities for local students,” said Sandy Hendrick, HTC Marketing Manager. “We view this as an investment in both the students and our broader community, anticipating that these young scholars will become the leaders of tomorrow.”
