Members Receive $7.6 Million in Capital Credits from HTC
Cooperative Distributes Refund as Part of 2007, 2010 and 2022 Allocations
August 26, 2024, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, today announced the 2024 Capital Credits distribution of $7.6 million to cooperative members will be distributed throughout the month of September.
Since 1979, HTC has refunded $181 million to members and this year’s refund represents portions of the 2007, 2010 and 2022 allocations. The amount disbursed to each member is based on the total amount members spent on qualifying services in the previous years noted. For distribution, if a member’s refund is $100.01 or more, a check will be mailed. If the refund is $100 or less, it will be applied to the member’s monthly bill.
HTC operates as a nonprofit cooperative, so profits earned are allocated back to members in the form of Capital Credits. When HTC experiences financial success, Cooperative members share in the success. Portions of credits are based upon the revenue generated by member services usage and years of membership. The more services, and the length of membership, the greater the opportunity for earning Capital Credits.
“Since HTC is a cooperative, it is set apart from other communications providers because we have members, not customers,” said Carlton Lewis, HTC Chief Executive Officer. “One of the bigger benefits of membership is Capital Credits and this year’s distribution is a continuation of members receiving those benefits. We appreciate everyone who is a part of HTC and look forward to another year of great prosperity.”
