REEL Kids Get Real Recognition
HTC held the Cooperative’s Recognizing Extraordinary Examples of Leadership (REEL) Kids celebration Thursday, April 10, at Medieval Times in Myrtle Beach. The REEL Kids program, which was launched in 2001, is structured to recognize students who demonstrate leadership excellence while overcoming life challenges.
This year HTC recognized approximately 83 children from schools throughout Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties.
As part of the celebration, this year’s REEL Kids received an introduction announcement from Carlton Lewis, HTC CEO. The REEL Kids were then able to enjoy an exciting jousting tournament, were provided lunch and had a meet-and-greet opportunity with the lords and ladies of the show. In addition, each winner received an Olympic-style medal, prizes from a ticket drawing and a new Apple iPad.
“The REEL Kids event has always held a special place in our hearts at HTC, and celebrating its 25th anniversary at Medieval Times made it even more memorable,” said Carlton Lewis, HTC CEO. “It is an incredible opportunity to recognize and uplift students who lead with kindness, and we’re honored to continue supporting a program that reflects the very best of our community.”
Throughout the spring months, HTC spotlighted our 2024-25 REEL Kids award recipients by releasing their stories individually every weekend via our Facebook page, YouTube channel and Cooperative website. If you haven’t already, take a few minutes to watch each student’s video to learn more about what makes every one of them a REEL Kid.
