HTC and Blue Star Mothers: A Sweet Delivery

At HTC, supporting the community means finding meaningful ways to give back while honoring the people and partnerships that make our region special.

During May’s Helping The Community initiative, HTC donated 35 cases of Girl Scout cookies to the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina. The organization included the cookies in hero boxes sent to active-duty military members.

A Sweet Partnership

The donation meant more than sharing a sweet treat. It brought several community partnerships together to support military members while honoring someone who left a lasting impact on the HTC family.

The Girl Scout cookies connected back to a previous HTC initiative tied to the REEL Kids program and Girl Scout Troop 392. HTC created the initiative to honor Heather Allen, an HTC REEL Kid and member of Troop 392. Heather passed away before HTC could recognize her during this year’s event. However, her impact continues to inspire those who knew her. The cookie partnership celebrated her spirit through community involvement and support for local youth organizations.

Giving Back Together

HTC also partnered with Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream to create limited-edition Girl Scout cookie-inspired ice cream flavors. Both Stella’s Conway and Murrells Inlet locations participated in the initiative. The partnership raised funds for local Girl Scout Troops 392, 178, and 2012.

After launching the initiative, HTC searched for another way to spread kindness through the remaining cookie inventory. The cooperative then partnered with Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina to donate 35 cases of cookies for hero boxes sent to military service members.

Helping Heroes Feel at Home

Blue Star Mothers includes mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, and female legal guardians with children who serve or have served in the military. The organization supports service members, veterans, and military families through care packages, outreach efforts, and community service projects.

Hero boxes often contain snacks, personal items, handwritten notes, and reminders of home. HTC’s donation added a heartfelt touch that will reach far beyond the local community.

“Community partnerships often create a ripple effect,” said Molly Klein. “What began as a local initiative supporting Girl Scout troops turned into another opportunity to give back to military families and service members. We’re grateful for every organization involved and for the chance to continue making a difference.”
