Beyond The Stream Continues the Rivertalk Story

 

 

Remember Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood? This beloved children’s television program was hosted by Fred Rogers. Each episode began with Mister Rogers entering his television home. He changed into his cardigan sweater and sneakers before welcoming viewers.

 

He talked about everyday experiences, feelings, relationships and challenges. Through those conversations, he reminded viewers that every person has value. Stories and conversations like those from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood helped inspire a long-running television show called Rivertalk.

 

Sponsored by HTC and hosted by Jack Murphy, Rivertalk helped tell the stories of our community. The show featured local leaders, nonprofits, business owners, event organizers and community members.

 

It highlighted the people and organizations across Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties. More importantly, those conversations offered insight into what makes these communities such special places to live and work.

 

 

While the legacy of Mister Rogers lives on, his television show ended in 2001. Today, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood carries on that legacy. The animated series is based on characters from the original Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

 

In much the same way, Rivertalk has evolved. We are excited to introduce its next chapter: Beyond The Stream.

 

Beyond The Stream takes viewers somewhere new. The name carries a double meaning. First, it represents moving beyond the river and beginning the next chapter of Rivertalk. At the same time, it speaks to HTC’s connectivity, streaming and technology. However, the focus is not on products or services.

 

Instead, Beyond The Stream goes beyond the stream to introduce the people who make HTC what it is.

 

 

Each episode features an HTC employee sharing their story.

These episodes are much shorter than Rivertalk. They are designed for easy viewing online and listening through a podcast.

 

Episodes of Beyond The Stream can be found on HTC’s YouTube Channel. You can tune in to them on your favorite audio app like Apple Music or Spotify or watch episodes on HTC’s Facebook and LinkedIn platforms, so make sure to follow.

 

 

We hope this simple change provides a new perspective on what makes HTC different. HTC is not different only because of the services we offer. Those services provide tremendous value to our members.

 

What truly makes HTC different is the people who work here.

 

Those same people also live in the communities we serve. HTC employees volunteer with local organizations and coach youth sports. They support community events and shop at local businesses. In other words, they are not simply employees serving these communities. They are members of these communities, too.

 

Beyond The Stream puts a face to the employee you may have spoken with on the phone. It introduces the person who installed your service. It may even introduce someone working behind the scenes.

 

Our employees value their interactions with members. They enjoy hearing your stories and sharing a few of their own. We believe a friendly face, encouraging words and local support form the foundation of our business.

 

And, much like the famous question Mister Rogers asked time and again: Won’t you be our neighbor?
