HTC Supports National Human Trafficking Prevention Month with Donation to Operation IFAST
Cooperative Partners with Guardian Group to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking in Our Community
January 23, 2025, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, announced their support for National Human Trafficking Prevention Month by donating $10,000 to Operation IFAST (Internet Service Providers Fight Against Sex Trafficking). This contribution highlights HTC’s dedication to using its resources and technology to combat the atrocities of human trafficking and raise awareness within the community.
Operation IFAST is a program that equips internet service providers (ISPs) with tools and training to proactively disrupt trafficking networks. Through advanced technology and collaboration with law enforcement, IFAST works to identify online patterns of illegal activity, assist in rescue operations and bring traffickers to justice. The program also seeks to empower ISPs to detect signs of trafficking and act as a first line of defense in preventing exploitation.
Human trafficking is an escalating global crisis, with many victims remaining unseen or unheard. HTC recognizes its unique position as a telecommunications provider to play a role in combatting this issue.
“HTC is honored to be an IFAST partner and join the fight against human trafficking,” said Wendy McCrackin, HTC Chief Executive of Customer Operations and Human Resources. “This tragic issue affects countless individuals, and it’s through programs like Operation IFAST that real progress is being made to combat this crisis.”
HTC encourages everyone to remain vigilant by recognizing potential signs of human trafficking, such as:
- Individuals who appear controlled, fearful or disoriented.
- Online behavior that suggests coercion or exploitation.
- Someone unable to speak freely or lacking personal documents.
- Signs of physical abuse or lack of basic necessities.
Community members are asked to join the fight against trafficking by staying informed and reporting suspicious behavior to the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or texting “BEFREE” (233733). Through this partnership with Guardian Group and Operation IFAST, HTC is committed to being part of the solution, working to protect vulnerable individuals and build a safer future.
