Donations of $1,500 for Each Entity are from HTC Employee and Cooperative Contributions

March 15, 2023, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, today announced that the Cooperative donated a total of $3,000 to the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Pantry.

With this donation, each organization received $1,500 from HTC. Raised and distributed in February, these donations come from a combination of employee contributions, as well as the Cooperative’s ongoing “Helping The Community” initiative.

“Contributions made by HTC and our employees to both the American Heart Association and HGTC Pantry solidly reflects our commitment to helping improve the quality of life for everyone in the communities in which we work and live,” said Sandy Hendrick, HTC Marketing Manager. “We are thankful to be able to donate to local organizations like these, which are cornerstone institutions who benefit everyone they assist.”

“It is an honor to be able to receive such a generous donation from HTC,” said Crystal Kirkland, Executive Director with the American Heart Association. “With them being a local Cooperative, they understand the needs that the American Heart Association strives to meet in the areas in which we work and live.”

“HGTC is thankful to receive a $1,500 contribution from HTC that directly benefits those served by the HGTC Pantry.  It takes all of us working together to provide the non-perishable food and personal care items that support HGTC students and employees in need,” said Nicole Hyman, HGTC Director of Public Relations. “Entrenched in our community due to the fact it is a cooperative, HTC gives back in ways that assist those who need help the most.  The amount the Cooperative pledged in February will certainly reach those who need special assistance in our HGTC Gator community.”

The American Heart Association (AHA) has grown into the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. A shared focus on cardiovascular health unites our more than 35 million volunteers and supporters as well as more than 2,900 employees. The AHA has invested more than $5 billion in research, making us the largest not-for-profit funding source for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease research next to the federal government.  To learn more, visit https://www.heart.org/en/about-us.

The HGTC Pantry also provides links and information on additional resources provided within our HGTC community and surrounding community to ensure access to healthy food and personal care, community education and advocacy that leads to self-sufficiency and a brighter tomorrow.
