We’ve all been there. Standing at the mailbox, with a hand full of postcards and envelopes, flabbergasted that so much could pile up in what feels like overnight.

I don’t know about you, but after a long day out of the house, it often slips my mind to check the mailbox when I get home. So, what should be only a couple of items of mail, often for me is six, seven, maybe even ten pieces stacked up. And don’t even get me started on the packages. While online shopping is my close and personal friend, my husband and our finances might consider it to be a foe.

Now, back to what I was saying… While the stack of mail is often large, I do make sure to at least take a quick glance at each piece. And that there, that glance, is for what organizations like HTC hope.

The Why Behind Direct Mailings

Direct mail advertising has been around for ages, and for good reason – it works. Here are a few reasons why HTC chooses to utilize direct mail advertising as one of our advertising tactics.

  • High Response Rates – Direct mail has a higher response rate than many other forms of advertising. According to the Direct Marketing Association, it has a response rate of 4.4%, compared to email’s response rate of just 0.12%.

  • Personalized – Direct mail can be personalized with the recipient’s name, location, and other details. This makes the message feel more personal and relevant, increasing the chances of a response.

  • Why have I received marketing mail with the wrong name?
    • Address lists can come from a variety of sources, and those sources do not always provide correct, up-to-date information.
  • What happens if I ask HTC to stop sending me direct mail?
    • Often, our marketing mail is scheduled out weeks in advance. This means the mail is too far gone for us to rescind upon your request. If this is the case, have patience and know that a few more pieces may be received before your Do Not Mail request truly takes effect.
    • Keep in mind, all service impacting mail will continue to be sent regardless of if your address was added to our Do Not Mail list.
  • Why did I receive mail from HTC that promotes a service that I already have?
    • As mentioned above, address lists are not always the most reliable and the systems the lists are pulled from sometimes accidentally include addresses that they shouldn’t.
    • Another case where this could happen is if you recently signed up for service, but your address is included in the already scheduled mail drops. Please have patience and know that marketing mail will stop soon enough.
