HTC Donates $1,500 to Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society
Donation Comes as Part of Cooperative’s ‘Helping The Community’ Initiative
April 12, 2023, Conway, S.C., – HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, today announced that the Cooperative donated $1,500 to the Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society (GSDSS).
Raised and distributed in March, this donation to the GSDSS came from a combination of employee contributions, as well as the Cooperative’s ongoing “Helping The Community” initiative.
“Our March contribution to the Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society made by HTC and our employees firmly reflects our commitment to the communities in which we work and live,” said Sandy Hendrick, HTC Marketing Manager. “We are thankful to be able to donate to the GSDSS and help them in their work.”
“We are greatly appreciative of HTC’s $1,500 gift for the GSDSS,” said Jackie Green, Secretary of the GSDSS. “With them being a local Cooperative, they understand the needs of our organization and are more than willing to help, which is reflected in this tremendous donation.”
The mission of the Grand Strand Down Syndrome Society is to make life better for people in the community who have Down Syndrome and their families and caregivers. The GSDSS offers support and information to families and professionals and promotes a positive image of Down Syndrome. The GSDSS brings to light the potential and greatness that each person with Down Syndrome possesses and strive to create the kind of awareness and acceptance of Down Syndrome that will last long after our generation is gone. They nurture parents of babies with Down Syndrome and provide all people whose lives have been touched by this condition a group where they feel welcomed and accepted. They create opportunities for individuals and families to network, socialize, and become better informed. Furthermore, as the organization is able, they support local, state and national efforts to ensure fair and equitable conditions for all people who have Down Syndrome or other disabilities.
