HTC Announces Fiber Upgrade Plans for City of Conway
Project Will Provide Fiber Optic Service to City Residents and Businesses
November 6, 2023, Conway, S.C. – HTC announced construction to bring fiber optic service within the city of Conway, including residential and business areas, will begin in early November. The multi-phased project will be complete by 2025.
The only locally-based fiber provider in the region, HTC has invested $293 million to date in network upgrades for members. This has resulted in 85 percent of the HTC network being converted to fiber, giving members access to the highest starting speeds in South Carolina.
This transition to cutting edge fiber optics will provide HTC members within the city limits with an upgrade in communications services on a faster, more reliable, and more secure network. Upon completion, HTC members throughout Conway proper will have access to speeds starting at 500 Mbps (and reaching up to 1 Gig), which is five times faster than the national benchmark for high-speed internet.
HTC will keep residents and businesses informed throughout the planning, construction and upgrade process. From determining where infrastructure will be placed all the way to installation on premise, HTC will be in constant communication with residents and business owners. This includes mailings regarding work for the upgrade and notices on when fiber services will be available.
